School Reports

KALAMUNDA SECONDARY EDUCATION SUPPORT CENTRE

Kalamunda Secondary Education Support Centre

Each Year, all government schools prepare an Annual Report of the school’s achievements, performance, and directions over the past year.

This document provides part of the school’s formal reporting processes to the school community.

As an Independent Public School, the current school Business Plan and the Department of Education’s Statement of Expectation (2025 – 2027) are the key drivers of the direction of the school during 2026. The school Business Plan outlines the school’s priorities for improvement which, in 2025, were aligned to the following Department of Education and Training documents:

  • Focus 2025
  • Strategic directions 2020-2024
  • Teaching for Impact
  • Multicultural Plan 2021-2025
  • Equity Diversity and Inclusion Plan 2021-2025

The priorities include:

  • Quality Teaching & Learning - Design neurodiverse affirming and targeted individualised learning programs that align with student strengths and interests to engage, inspire and enhance achievement.
  • Staff & Student Wellbeing - Prioritise the health and wellbeing of all staff and students so that everyone feels safe and has a sense of belonging at Kalamunda Secondary ESC. Using neurodiverse affirming practices, students’ needs are assessed and met, reducing complex behaviours. A reduction in complex behaviours will then provide a safer and calmer environment for all students and staff.
  • Post School Pathways - Working in collaboration with parents, all students will have an Individualised Transition Plan to Post-School Pathways to acquire the skills they need to feel safe, a sense of belonging and become active members of the wider community. Students will gain employability and self-advocacy skills to successfully socialise, volunteer and gain meaningful employment.
  • Community & Inclusive Partnerships - Continue to build and maintain ongoing partnerships with families, community organisations and local businesses to ensure student progress is maximised. Ensure ongoing development of a collaborative and inclusive relationship with Kalamunda Senior High School through shared events, providing joint learning experiences and inclusive curriculum opportunities.

Kalamunda Secondary ESC undergoes a regular Public School Review (PSR) with the team from the Department of Education.  This ensures we continue to meet the required standards for public schools.  Our last PSR was in November 2024, with a three year review cycle.
